AliraMed

AliraMed is a pharmaceutical intelligence platform designed to make trusted medication information easier for healthcare professionals to access.

Instead of searching through lengthy product monographs, healthcare professionals can ask questions in natural language and quickly find information directly from approved pharmaceutical sources.

For pharmaceutical companies, those same interactions provide something equally valuable: insight into the questions healthcare professionals are asking, including regional trends, on-label and off-label interest, and potential pharmacovigilance events.

ICI Pharma partnered with Troon to take AliraMed from concept to a live platform in approximately five months.

The Challenge.

Building conversational AI for pharmaceutical information comes with little room for error.

AliraMed needed to make information faster to find without allowing AI to freely interpret or rewrite approved pharmaceutical content. Every response had to remain grounded in the relevant product monograph and traceable back to its source.

The platform also needed to account for pharmaceutical compliance from the start. This included identifying on-label and off-label queries, detecting potential adverse events, protecting personally identifiable information, and creating appropriate records for regulatory follow-up.

Beyond the AI itself, AliraMed needed to operate as a scalable commercial platform supporting different user roles, hundreds of product monographs, analytics, content management, and future expansion into additional markets.

With pharmaceutical budget cycles approaching, the team needed a functional MVP live by the end of 2025.

Our Strategy.

Troon began by designing the platform architecture around pharmaceutical compliance, data security, and the different ways healthcare professionals and pharmaceutical teams would use the platform.

From there, we developed the core conversational experience and a custom RAG pipeline that retrieves relevant information directly from approved product monographs rather than generating or interpreting pharmaceutical content. Compliance features, including on-label and off-label classification, pharmacovigilance detection, and PII filtering, were built directly into the platform.

As the product developed, we added the business intelligence layer, product marketplace, and administration tools, while automating the ingestion of more than 900 Canadian product monographs. The final phase focused on testing, refining AI accuracy, and preparing the platform for launch and future expansion into additional markets.

Beyond the platform, Troon also supported AliraMed’s market launch through the Digital Launch Package, developing its website and supporting brand and marketing assets to establish a cohesive digital presence.

The Outcome

The result is a live pharmaceutical AI platform that brings conversational search, approved product information, pharmacovigilance workflows, analytics, and product discovery into one experience.

With more than 900 Canadian product monographs ingested and an architecture designed for regional expansion, and a digital presence to support its market launch, AliraMed has a foundation that can grow alongside its pharmaceutical clients and into new markets.

Most importantly, the platform demonstrates how AI can make complex, regulated information significantly easier to access while keeping the approved source material at the centre of every interaction.
