As part of our ongoing experimentation at Troon, we regularly test new tools to see how they can enhance productivity, creativity, and collaboration across our teams.
This month, we explored five AI-powered platforms that span everything from coding and search to knowledge management and communication.
Here’s a breakdown of what each tool offers, what we liked, and where we think it might fall short so you can decide if it’s worth adding to your own stack.
1. Replit – The All-in-One Collaborative Coding Platform
What it is:
Replit is an in-browser development environment that allows you to code, collaborate, deploy, and host applications with ease. It supports over 50 programming languages and is equipped with Ghostwriter —
an AI coding assistant for generating code, autocompleting, and debugging.

Currently, Replit feels limited in delivering on its full promise — especially for enterprise-grade apps. But it’s pushing the boundaries of how coding could become more accessible and collaborative in the future. We love seeing where this tech is heading and we’ll be keeping an eye on how it evolves.
2. Monica.im – An AI Sidekick in Your Browser
What it is:
Monica.im is a Chrome extension that acts as an AI-powered assistant, offering a suite of productivity tools including chat, copywriting templates, translations, rephrasing, summaries, and more. It leverages a variety of AI models, including GPT-4, Claude, and Gemini.
Key Features:

We really like the idea of consolidating multiple models and tools into one platform. Constantly switching tabs or tools can be a pain, what we’d love to see is a platform that offers all that power in a truly unified, smooth experience. Monica is close, and we’re curious to see how it matures.
3. Needle.ai – Smarter Knowledge Management Across Your Tools
What it is:
Needle.ai is an AI-powered knowledge management platform that connects your cloud-based content (emails, docs, notes, messages) and enables intelligent search and insights. It uses vector search and AI summaries to help you find what you need fast.

Troon’s Take:
This is one of the more promising tools we tested this month. As a custom dev shop, we deal with distributed knowledge daily — and Needle shows potential in surfacing context quickly. We’d love to see even deeper integrations and faster onboarding to make it a staple in more workflows.
4. Tanka.ai – AI Memory for Your Team Conversations
What it is:
Tanka.ai is a messaging and knowledge retention platform that integrates directly into tools like Slack and Gmail. It acts as a centralized memory bank for your organization, capturing key decisions, insights, and documents — all powered by AI.
Key Features:

We’re still on the waitlist for Tanka, but as a fully remote team, we love the concept. The idea of turning team conversations into a searchable knowledge base is something we’re genuinely excited about. It’ll be interesting to see what insights we can surface from all our chats. 5. You.com – An AI-First, Privacy-Focused Search Engine
What it is:
You.com is an AI-powered search engine that combines traditional results with AI-generated answers, app integrations, and privacy features. YouChat (its chatbot) offers conversational search, summaries, and even code generation.

Troon’s Take:
We’re fans of tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity.ai, and You.com brings a unique spin with its customizable, AI-powered search and built-in tools like YouChat, YouCode, and YouWrite. The privacy-first approach is a big plus.
That said, the interface can feel busy and less intuitive compared to Perplexity. It’s powerful, maybe too much so for casual users, but for developers and AI-savvy professionals, it’s an exciting space to watch.
